At Calabash we have committed to putting ESG principles at the heart of our operation. We are keen to form partnerships with businesses who are aligned with our ethics and values and are now working with supplier Simply Washrooms to develop our sustainability credentials. The B Corp business will provide our clients with washroom products made from recycled materials, helping reduce their carbon footprint and tackle the scourge of plastic waste.
We have been busy developing a robust sustainability strategy to help us act as a force for good within the facilities management sector. Be it starting to measure emissions, using low impact high performance cleaning products, or signing up to the Living Wage Foundation, we want to excel by supporting the triple bottom line of people, profit and planet. As we continue to implement our strategy, we are seeking supply chain partners who will help us meet our goals.
Our newest supplier Simply Washrooms has three decades of experience providing sustainable washroom and workplace hygiene services. It was the first business in its sector to develop hygiene units made from recycled materials and the company supports the circular economy by keeping resources in the value chain. Its air freshening units are also fully recyclable and uses pure fragrance oils without added Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), solvents or propellants.
At the same time, Simply Washrooms has never sent any of its hygiene waste to landfill. Once it’s collected, waste is sent to local energy from waste (EfW) plants where it is converted into a renewable fuel source. In 2023 it became B Corp certified, demonstrating that it meets rigorous social and environmental standards.
Calabash’ Senior Retail Area Manager Thomas Salmon said: “We are delighted to be working with Simply Washrooms. They will support us on our sustainability journey and allow the businesses we work with to make more responsible choices. We will continue searching for new ways to drive ESG higher up the agenda in facilities management and that means using suppliers who share our values.”
All new Calabash clients will be using Simply Washroom service and in time all our customers will benefit from their sustainable solutions. From recycling their hygiene waste to providing products that support decarbonisation, the supplier will help everyone secure a more sustainable future.
